I read something today that I just had to share with you. I was doing some online research about business blogging and I came across a forum where the topic was being discussed. Someone asked whether they should incorporate their blog into their main business website or operate it as an entirely separate site.
For what it’s worth the general consensus was that it’s best to have the blog on your website, as I have done here. Obviously I agree ;). However this isn’t the main reason I’m writing about it.
Someone actually said it was best “not to bother” with a business blog. They believed options such as Twitter were far better, whereas a business blog didn’t actually achieve much in the way of results at all.
I was amazed at that point of view, as were a couple of other people who obviously came down on my side of the fence rather than the “not to bother” side. I know it is well worth bothering – I’ve had more enquiries and more new clients since experimenting with posting three times a week than I did before. I see no reason why this wouldn’t continue (as long as I keep it up of course).
Bear this in mind when it comes to your blog. Never assume it’s not worth bothering, or you should stick a few posts on there and then stop. Blogging is definitely able to affect the bottom line of your business – and the sooner you start, the sooner you’ll get the results you want.
