This has to be one of the most common errors people make when looking for a writer. And really, this applies in lots of other areas in life too. We all know that if something looks too good to be true it probably is. This applies just as much with hiring writers as it does to everything else.

Yes you can easily find writers out there who charge a mere dollar or two per article. Unless they are just starting out and want some quick clips, they won’t be English speaking. Wherever they hail from, a dollar will go a lot further in their currency than it would in the US (or a pound in the UK, if you will). That’s the first issue – writers who can live on these wages never speak English as their first language. So they don’t make the ideal choice if you want your articles or other content written in English.

If you want to hire a professional you need to be prepared to pay the right fee to do so. But let me tell you this – if you do hire someone at a ridiculously low fee, don’t be too surprised if they let you down. If they charge fees that low, they clearly don’t value their work or the service they provide. It always tends to be these writers who disappear and don’t deliver the work, or are just late with it all the time and eventually drop off the face of the earth.

If you want to make sure you hire the right person for the job so you never get let down, look for a professional. You wouldn’t hire someone in the first week of medical school to perform an operation. You wouldn’t hire someone who likes playing with Lego to build you a house. So don’t hire someone who doesn’t even speak English as their first language as your writer

The bottom line is this: if you go too low on your price you will never get the service you are looking for.
